Background of the Study
Palliative care focuses on improving the quality of life for patients with serious illnesses by addressing physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. Effective palliative care requires healthcare providers to have adequate education and awareness to deliver compassionate and competent care. In Benue State, the level of palliative care education among healthcare providers remains uncertain, potentially affecting patient outcomes.
Statement of the Problem
Despite the growing need for palliative care services, there is limited information on the extent of palliative care education and awareness among healthcare providers in Benue State. This gap may lead to inadequate patient care and support for those with life-limiting illnesses.
Objectives of the Study
1. Assess the current level of palliative care education among healthcare providers in Benue State.
2. Evaluate the awareness and attitudes of healthcare providers toward palliative care.
3. Identify barriers to effective palliative care education and implementation.
Research Questions
1. What is the current level of palliative care education among healthcare providers in Benue State?
2. How aware are healthcare providers of palliative care principles and practices?
3. What barriers exist that hinder effective palliative care education and implementation?
Research Hypotheses
1. Healthcare providers in Benue State have limited education in palliative care.
2. There is a low level of awareness and understanding of palliative care among healthcare providers.
3. Identifiable barriers impede the effective education and implementation of palliative care.
